My First Shop - Finnieston

Posted by on

I created this as a celebration of opening my first shop in Finnieston.

I wanted to create an artwork that would introduce myself to the community. After a week of intensive drawing I captured the Finnieston Strip. Of course, as it's ever changing, Old Salty's was open when I started and closed by the completion.                                             I created tea towels with the image. This way I could go meet owners and employees of the local business with a gift in hand. A favourite cafe of mine, the Steamie hung this up for customers to see, which in turn helped people find me.                                              I was introduced to Norman of Bunker , a furniture up-cycler next door. He is captured in this print painting furniture in the street. I think it's fair to say he was pretty chuffed to be captured on a teatowel. He laughed it's always been one of his ambitions.

Glasgow West End today came along to ask me more about moving to Finnieston at the time. You can watch the video below to find out more.

Tea towels and Prints available to buy.
